I did upgrade the bios. it didn't help.

I was able to fdisk and format the 540 in another laptop (chaplet 386)
I put back in the 750 and still nothing.  I did notice that "340 MB" is
printed on the multi conductor flat ribbon cable that connects the hd to
the main board.
So the consensus is putting an EIDE drive into a computer made for IDE
won't work? what a bummer
Anyone want to trade a 540 or larger IDE for a almost brand new WD AL2540
2.5 in drive??
