     Never did solve the parallel port pass through issue.  I found a Mustek
Color PCMCIA Hand held scanner through NECX for about $187.  It did the job
until some bad scanner pixels spoiled the party.  Sent it back and NECX is
sending me a new one.  On the good side, this scanner will scan 24 bit color
or B/W at 800 dpi.  Not quite as easy as feeder style but its real
convenient to carry around.  Works great with my 701C!!!

     If I'd had more time I think I would have hacked around myself.
Somebody wrote me with what I believe is the answer.  This person said to
de-activate everything, including the track point, and then load the
software.  Once you get the parallel port device working then turn things on
one at a time.  This way you'll know exactly what causes the problem.
Sounds logical.

BTW - the Easy Photo setup looks almost exactly like the Primax mobile
office and I found it for $199 at Best Buys and Micro Center.
