A problem I had with Slackware and the 1.2.8 kernel on my TP750 was that
the prompts were never really clear on when to change the disk.  It
prompted me twice.  If I put in the root disk the first time, it would
read the disk then give an "unable to mount root fs" message and lock up. 
If I left the boot disk in it would read the disk, then prompt me again
(different prompt).  Put in the root disk at that point, and the system 
would come up (off ramdisk).

Or so I recall.  :)
