Hard Drives

I'm becoming totally frustrated with my 340 Meg drive.  I know this topic
comes up often but the situation also changes pretty quickly.  Can
anybody give me an idea of hard drive prices (800 Meg or preferably greater)
and reliable vendors.

Also,  is there anything I have to reinstall that might not be obvious
or can I just reinstall the operating system and software?
