     Hello,

It sounds very much like the ISP's problem and not the mwave. I
assume that if you disconnected the modem without logging out that the
same problem would occur. I get disconnect problems with regular
     modems as well.

It is true that it is not a defective modem. The modem can be setup
to indicate the connect status and I know that serial ports under unix
can be configured to logout on modem hangup.

So the ISP either does not know how to set this up or is running
equipment not capable of doing this. Logout on hang-up is so basic
a ISP configuration requirement that I would be suspect of any ISP
that can not or does not know how to fix the problem.

Either way I would suggest you get another ISP. It is also possibly a
security violation. If someone can reconnect to that modem, they would
be logged on to your account. With everyone seeming to becoming ISPs,
no doubt some do not have a real clue on what they are doing.

     73 Eric.

My modem has recently starting hanging when I am unexpectedly disconnected
from my ISP. Then when I try to log in again, dial-up networking (Win 95)
reports that I cannot log on to more than one port at a time. To clear, I
have to phone my ISP and have them kick the stuck connection off. Even
shutting down my Thinkpad 755CD completely and re-booting doesn't clear it.
They tell me that it is happening on a variety of their modems instead of
just one, so they don't have a defective modem at their end. I have used the
MWAVE with this particular ISP for almost a year, and it only recently
started doing this. Anyone know how to keep this from happening?

Thanks,
Kate
