Hi,

My name is Carlos Sibal and I'm a new subscriber to this list. I have a 701C
DX2/50 and am currently running Win95 w/ 12mb RAM -- its feeling a bit
sluggish these days and I hope to upgrade to 20mb real soon! I have a Port
leather portfolio case and it serves my needs quite well. I recently got a
Panasonic 4x portable cd-rom (kxl-d740) and love it (well, not as much as my
701). At the office I hook up to our Win95 LAN and our Netware Lan using an
Etherlink III PC CARD---runs quite smoothly. At home I dock to the multiport
where my Parallel Port Zip Drive and Canon BJC-70 awaits.

I usually dial up to the Internet with the built in Fax/Modem at 19.2 terbo
speed using Win95's dial up networking and Netscape Gold 2.0. I'm using the
Nimh battery and get between 1.75hrs to 2.5 hrs of heavy usage. During light
usage about 3 to 4 hrs. I've noticed a sharp degradation in battery life
though since I started leaving the Panasonic SCSI PC card in the slot-- I'm
aware that it draws current but isn't it suppose to "sleep" or go into
standby when the computer is in standby(not hibernate) mode?

I am based in Manila, Philippines and thankfully enough IBM Philippines
offers the most solid support I know of any other IT company here and it can
get quite ugly. I acquired my 701 last December and I am a convert to its
overall usability.
