Re: best place to order 760CD

I ordered a 760CD-120 a few months ago.  The "120" MHz Pentium model 
was suppose to be available later this month or March, but I just 
received an interesting phone call from Stan, my sales rep at CDW 
(Computer Discount Warehouse) which indicates otherwise.

Stan tells me that CDW just received a notice from IBM that production
of the 760 (all models) has been suspended until at least the middle
of March.  IBM "claims" component shortages as the reason for the
delay.

I question IBM's explanation for this production halt and delay because
I've read several postings on other USENET groups from IBM 760 owners
that indicated that "false advertising" law suites may be or have been
filed against IBM for falsely advertising specific features of the 760 
that it clearly doesn't have.  I believe full-screen capture using MPEG2 
was one of the features mentioned which in reality displays captured video 
at 160x200, not exactly full screen (confirmed by Ken Yee - active on this
mailing list - thanks Ken).

Has anyone else heard anything about this production suspension and/or
false advertising claims?  I guess I won't be seeing my 760CD-120 for
at least another month or two and possibly longer.  :-(  

Anyone have any inside information about the new "top of the line" 
ThinkPad models to be announced next Fall? I already heard 13+"
LCD screens in a slightly larger box.  Any other features worth
waiting for?

stated previously on this mailing list, call around for the best price 
on an item first and THEN call CDW.  They will usually meet or beat 
anyone's price (if it's real) and usually have most items in stock or 
can get it within a day or so.
