Another option for Glidepoint users

I found in my Thinkpad config.sys that there is a device that supposedly can
be loaded to do the following:

REM DEVICEHIGH=C:\$IBMHIPD.SYS

    This statement when un-REMed will load $IBMHIPD.SYS into upper memory.  This
    device driver checks to see if a Thinkpad Space Saver keyboard with
    Trackpoint is plugged in externally and disables the internal Trackpoint III
    if one is detected.

This looks exactly like what those of us with Glidepoints need to
automatically disable the Trackpoint III when we plug in the Glidepoint by
itself or with a dock/replicator, assuming plugging something like that in
is close enough to "simulating" a Space Saver Keyboard to initiate the
qutomatic switch. 

I tried to UNREM this line and nothing seems to happen. Bootlog doesn't give
an error, but there is no indication that $ibmhipd is loaded in memory when
doing the mem command. 

Is there something I am missing here? Does anyone have any additional
details about this driver that says it is somehow incompatible with Win95?
Has anyone successfully used it on Win 95 (or otherwise for that matter)? Is
the leading $ somehow significant for the loading and visibility of the load
in memory? Does the driver only load at bootup if it detects the specific
conditions (Thinkpad Space Saver keyboard attached) at boot time, meaning it
won't do it dynamically and that it really is specific to detecting this one
model keyboard?

This looks practically perfect for the need, but it just doesn't seem to load...
