jesus, what am i saying?!?!?  gotta stop doing two things at once....

it runs at half-duplex only if you have a half-duplex sound card, which most 
16-bit sound cards are.  the modem doesn't mean much.  it really runs the same 
over 14.4 as it does over the t1.  no, i do not <<hic>> drink at work.
