Display on CD, CE, CX

Can some of you with one of the above three models say something about
the color depth of the TFT display?  IBM advertises it as capable of
65536 colors, but I've noticed that several companies say the same
thing when their TFT apparently isn't capable of that many colors (the 
notebooks can show 16- or 24-bit color depth on an external display). 
Hooking the TP up to an external monitor, setting it up for simultaneous
display, and comparing the TFT to the monitor on a 24-bit JPEG should
be a good way to test it.

I had a chance to compare the 701C (advertised 256 colors) and 755CD
(advertised 65536 colors) side by side today.  The TFT display on the
755CD is much brighter than the 701C.  Unfortunately the store had some
stupid program installed that prevented me from running an external
program to test the color depth.

Also, has anyone been able to compare the Apple Powerbook TFTs with the
IBM TFTs?
