Office 4.2 Problem

Hello All,
 
We are trying to install Office 4.2 on a IBM Thinkpad 750c and there are
error messages "Top level INF Parser: Bad DLL data value" and "Processing
top level info failed". The Thinkpad is using PCDOS 6.1 and Windows 3.1.
 
Another thinkpad had the same problem, but a desktop system with MSDOS 6.2
and Windows 3.1 worked fine.
 
One thing I noticed is that a temporary directory is created on the desktop
system that contains the office setup program and files uncompressed from
Disk A.  The thinkpads do not have this temporary directory when the error
message comes up.
