In Windows95 at least, look in the [MWAVE] section of system.ini (I would
expect it to be the same in Win NT), there is a setting for DMABufferSize,
mine is set to 5632K, which is how much memory the mwave device reserves
for its use on initialization.  Try lowering this value and see how your
mwave device works.  This dmabuffer is only for the sound system and not
the modem (so I'm told).
