Howard, I have given up with the AL2540, and ordered an IBM drive.
However, I talked to Toshiba and learned that their drives will work
(according to them) if there is a C after the model number, e.g.,
HDDxxxxC. An 810 meg drive hs the model numbers MK1926FCV and HDD2517C.

Note that each drive has two model numbers.  The FC means IDE, and the V
means slim line, 12.5 mm thick. FB would be
SCSI.  Toshiba tel #'s are800-999-4273 and 714-583-3000.
