TP 750 hard drives

I am having a terrible time getting other 2.5" drives to work in my TP 750.
I have upgraded to the latest 1.42 BIOS.

I have tried a WD AL2540 (540 meg EIDE) but the BIOS won't recognize it's
existence.  I have also tried a Seagate 9145AG (120 meg IDE) and not only
would the BIOS not recognize it, but it caused memory errors (201) and
config errors (174) and the machine would not boot nor allow me into
EasySetup.  Both drives are known to work in other systems.

Questions:

1) Will all IBM drives work in the TP 750?
2) Will only IBM drives work in the TP 750?
3) Does anyone have direct experience using non-IBM drives in TP 75x?  If
so, which drives?
