I have to admit that seeing the MegaHertz xjack modem was one of the few
tims in my life when I was truly dumbstruck by the ingunity of what can be
made these days. It's functional, cute, and convenient.
But in practical use, there's one very, very important downside. It's
difficult to use it with many other PCMCIA cards that need access to the
outside (such as my CD-ROM one with a cable to the drive). The telephone
cord extends both above and below the xjack. It's almost impossible, for
example, to use both it and my Adaptec SlimSCSI card. If I really wrench
the thing, I can ``make it fit'', but this is not an optimal solution.
I now use a different modem card.
