I totally agree with you Eric.  The monitor shelf is a scam and a 
rip-off.  As you have proven, it is not clearly mentioned in the 
literature despite it's necessity.  And the price for this part is 
ridiculous.  Also - let the buyer beware holds true, but that's not 
valid as an excuse for incompetent salespeople.
