i had the same frustration installing slackware.  however, the
A disks aren't that large, and installing them from the DOS 
partition was pretty simple.  be sure to also include the kernel
series (i think it's K) so that you can pick a kenel that supports
your CD-ROM.  then you can do the other packages from CD when you
boot on your new kernel.

there are a lot of other CD-issued products that require the
simultaneous use of CD and floppy, and it's darn annoying.  
so far it's Windows NT (although the alterative of a Network
Install exists for me) and the Adaptek drivers for my SlimSCSI
PCMCIA card (which, fortunately, windows95 doesn't requre).
in general, i wish manufacturers would get a clue about how
many laptop users can have one or the other but not both ...
