has anyone thought about trying a password protected thinkpad drive in 
one of those adapters that lets you put your thinkpad drive into a 
regular PC?
If an IBM engineer somewhere would care to spill the beans and let us 
know how the password is used on the hard drive (i.e. encrypting all the 
data, or a flash rom chip somewhere storing the password in memory) then 
there might be a way around it.
