I've got both a 760 and a slightly heavier 755cx.  I carry them routinely
without fatigue.  In fact, I use a fairly bulky carry case as well. Of
course, some people fatigued more easily than others.  You might look into
getting yourself a special laptop backback.  I have one from CompuAID which
looks exactly like a normal Jansport type bookbag and is not labeled, so it
won't attract theives.  Inside, it has a custom pocket which holds a
ThinkPad firmly.  There is also room for accessories, and/or books and such.
Such an arrangement offers an inconspicuous method for transporting your
machine, and it's no different than carrying a bookbag, so if you can do
that, you can do this.
