a word on the thinkpad keyboard. I changed from a 360CSE to my present 755CSE,
and the new keyboard was the pits. I had to push hard enough, and vertically
down, that I couldn't touch type. I had IBM come in and replace it, the new one
is wonderful! When I was doing all this with the service people, they told me
that there are two versions of the keyboard, touch type and normal. I suspect
mine came as 'normal', and they installed a touch type version.
Horror story on the dual scan screens : I'm on my third, the bottom half of the
screen goes yellow and you're stuffed. Takes an average of a month to get a new
part. I figured out in the end how to call Boulder CO, make enough waves, and
get the priority bumped to the highest level. A few months ago they were
getting a half dozen a week arriving.
Buy IBM : Not next time. They switch the models too fast, you wait tmonths for
your PC, and the warranty service is awful. The software telephone support
only knows how to tell you it's not an IBM problem.
