This is a belated reply, but I have had no problems using a pcmcia modem and getting the DSP chip to run soundblaster emulations under linux. It took me a while to get the kinks out, but it definitely is possible. I boot to dos, run "mwgames on" to turn on soundblaster emulation, and then boot linux using loadlin. --Sridhar
