The internal modem is half software. Until that software is written for
Linux, it is extremely doubtful that it will ever work under Linux.  You'll
be able to get the AT-command reply, but when you go to actually dial or
something, the hardware part will time-out trying to connect to the
(nonexistant) software part.

A major bummer.
