Common practice. Gateway was two months behind on P120 delivery mid
summer. I have been privy to the back-stabbing that occurs for new
machines. Neither of the two companies previously mensioned were
involved, but a sales/marketing officer told me outright that
a particular hospital's order was shipping while a university order might
have to wait four to six months. Reason: "limited availability and
stronger than expected demand". Really, they just promiss it all and
know that production & demand are somewhat inverse with hot new
products.
