701 Replacement info?

I've been contemplating getting a TP701 but was worried that the speed
increase wouldn't justify an upgrade from my 750.  On inspiration, I
visited MIT's computer store and test drove the 701C DX4/75 8/360 they
had on display.  I was not impressed.

So...  has anyone heard anything about IBM's replacement for the 701?
Pointers to recent weekly or monthly magazines are fine.
