driver for 755CD CD-ROM under win95?

IBM's notes about installing win95 on a thinkpad state that
  "Windows 95 comes with a generic ATAPI CD-ROM driver and it works
   with the ThinkPad integrated CD-ROM."

it mentions a problem with the win95 setup failing to remove the old driver,
but claims that if you disable the old driver by hand and reboot, the new
driver will be automatically installed.

has this worked for anyone else?  if i remove the old driver from my
config.sys/autoexec.bat files, it boots up without installing any new
drivers, leaving the drive inaccessible.  if i leave them in, everything
works but the system control panel/performance window says my life would be
better if i gave it shiny new 32-bit drivers instead of the crufty old 16
bit drivers it's currently using.  if i try to install new drivers manually,
the choices i get don't include anything very plausible (i'm offered drivers
for Mitsumi, MKE Panasonic, or Sony).

digging a little further, the win95/thinkpad notes later talk about a
problem with win95 polling the cd-rom to see if a new disk has been
inserted, and the workaround steps include
     4. Click on "Device Manager" tab
     5. Click "+" mark on "CD-ROM"
     6. Double click "TEAC CD-40E"

so i guess i need the driver for a TEAC CD-40E...  but from where?  there's
none on the win95 cd-rom.  i can't find one anywhere on the net.  i'm trying
TEAC's BBS, but losing because it's always busy...

if you're running win95 on a 755CD, and you've got a 32-bit driver for your
CD-ROM, please tell me where you got it from!
