"NO!! accccck!! no newsgroups!" some people do have environments which make reading news hard, and some people, odd to say, prefer mail lists (they must be people with a lot of time on their hands, or they are lonely for email :-) anyway, the proper solution is a newsgroup which is interconnected with a mailing list, this is quite standard to arrange.
