TP750 Sound support for Linux?

I have a TP750 and have been running Linux on it for the best part of
18 months.  One permanent irritation, however, has been the lack of
support for sound under Linux.  I wonder whether anyone has had a go
at this, or has technical information that would let me have a go at
hacking the standard Linux sound driver myself.
