6.001 Fall 1998: Problem Set 9

- Written solutions due: Friday, December 4, 1998
- Reading: Read Sections 5.1 and 5.2 for November 17, Section 5.4 for November 19, Section 5.5 for November 24, and Section 5.3 for December 1.
- Chapter 5: you do not need to know the details of section 5.2.
- Look over the attached code files compiler.scm, eccomplr.scm, and support.scm.
- Auxiliary files regsim.scm, and syntax.scm are available
on-line for reference.
- **FINAL EXAM**: The final will be held on Wednesday
December 16 from 1:30 to 4:30pm in Johnson Athletic Center (W34-100).
It will cover the whole course with extra emphasis on the material not
covered in the previous two quizzes.

Problem set in postscript format, for
printing or viewing with a program like ghostview
Problem set in HTML format, for
Web browsing
Problem set in pdf format, for viewing
with Adobe Acrobat (available from www.adobe.com).
Problem set in dvi format, for viewing
a program like xdvi (no figures included).
Code to load for this problem set
For GNU/Linux users
Gzipped tar file format. Put this tar file in the
psets directory, go to that directory, and type
tar xvf ps9.tar.gz. If this works, you can remove the tar file.
For Windows95 and Windows NT users
Zip
file format. Unzip this file in the into the directory you set up
as your problem sets directory when you installed 6.001 Scheme (this
will be a directory with the name psets
under the
directory you actually specified). The result should update the
probsets file
in the psets directory and also place in psets
a directory called ps9
that contains seven files: syntax.scm, compiler.scm, eccomplr.scm, ps9go.scm, support.scm, regsim.scm and load-ec.scm.
Code to read for this problem set
When you load the problem set, the following code file (included in
the tar and zip packages above) will be placed in an Edwin buffer so
that you can examine it easily. Here is another copy of the code, in
a form that you can look at with a web browser:
