Notes:

My goal then is to provide a representation suitable for individualized personal preference assessments for medical decisions

I approach the problem by not deciding apriori what the terms are;

instead I forma a representation which can use the patient’s terms to measure the abstraction of healthiness on an individualized basis.

…in such a way that we can automate some or all of it.

write “automate”

healthiness is an abstraction - some say there is no perfect measure for that reason. I am not convinced of that.

In the process of representing the patient perspective, I seek to validate the assumption that the patient is understood; that we not only capture the words but the intended meaning. How that is accomplished is only partially clear thus far. So I am led to ask what does it mean to understand a person? ... to facilitate understanding? Is that something which computers are capable of doing that has been limited to humans in the past?
