- To make
agarose mix for either large (120 ml) or small
(60 ml) gel cast, pour into jar:
- microwave jar (120 ml for 1:20 min, 60 ml for 1 min). Open and
shake jar after 3/4 of the elapsed time has passed. Note: make sure
cap is loose before putting jar into microwave!
- Cool agarose to about
, or place in the
water bath until ready to use.
- Put gel tray in casting tray with tape or end gates. Make sure
the cast fits tightly, and set on level portion of the bench.
- Pour the agarose into the casting tray to a depth of 4 to 5 mm.
Place a tooth comb in the appropriate slot in the casting tray.
- Allow the gel to solidify on your bench (for about 10 minutes).
- The wells from the different tooth combs hold the following
amounts:
