Rajeev Surati Ph.D.

  • Cofounder/CTO of Flash Communication. Flash was acquired by Microsoft in 1998. Idea to Exit in under 12 months. At Microsoft I worked as a developer in the Exhange group and also helped with MSN Messenger delivering a distributed server system based on our original architecture.
  • CoFounder of Scalable Display Technology. A company commercializing my ph.D. thesis entitled "A Scalable Self-Calibrating Technology for Large Scale Displays". We make projectors which have unlimited resolution and brightness.
  • Chairman of photo.net, world's largest high-end photography community garnering over 40 million page views a month and garnering sustainable subscription revenues. Under chairmanship business is sustainable and growing at 130% per year.
  • Advisory Boards/Investments: Nexaweb Technology, Microdisplay Corporation, and Permabit Corporation.
  • Director Tao Group Systems in the United Kingdom. Tao sells a binary compatible media substrate for cellular phones. Patents: 4 Awarded in Instant Messaging -- one of the original patents. 1 awarded related to Super Resolution Displays in 1997 based on Ph.D. Thesis.
    Publications: 3 in compiler technology
  • Investment Manager for Surati Bayless Investments. Taking an interactive roll with these investments at the financial level, board level, business developement level, hr level, engineering level, and finally research level. My industry experience and education allow me to work across the spectrum and find tier A talent.

    Education

1999 Ph.D. in EECS MIT: Scalable Technology for Large Scale Seamless Displays
1995 SM in EECS MIT: A object system based on partial evaluation
1993 SB in EECS MIT. A parallelizing compiler based on partial evaluation:
perfect gpa except 4.9 out of 5 for sb.

    Prior Work

  • Research Assistant at MIT AI Lab: The bulk of my experience with computer hardware and software as well as mathematical modelling and numerics come from working in this laboratory. I built a new scalable technology for seamless large-scale displays. Other projects I have worked on include: a highly optimizing parallelizing numerical compiler, a special purpose 8-node VLIW computer, interface boards for talking to and debugging this computer, active noise cancellation of PC muffin fans, and finally an internet coke machine
  • Oak Ridge National Lab Visiting DOE Computational Fellow: Investigated state of the art micro-fluidic technologies for building chemical laboratories on a micro-scale. Worked with Labview, optics, single point imaging, and high voltage electronics.
  • Naval Research LaboratoryElectronics Engineer: Utilized wavelets and vector quantization to develop algorithms for fast target identification. There was a lot of C and postscript programming involved. I worked in the Tactical Electronic Warfare Division.
  • Technology Hackers Inc Consulting Engineer: I completed and implemented the design for a steerable 512 node 2D acoustic array. I utilized my skills in circuit, mechanical and acoustic design to finish this project. We delivered a product to the customer that was capable of listening to individuals whispering a 200 yards away.
  • Microsoft Corporation: Software Quality Assurance Engineer. I was a tester on the early versions of  Microsoft Works, Microsoft File,
