Synchronization: Why do we need it?

Since phase cannot be measured directly in the simulator, a frequency lock is used to imply a phase lock.

The histograms below display the change in distribution (after 100,000 clock ticks) of listen-delays (across) that occurs as the delay-delta increases (down).
