Thought I'd pass this on. I have the following configuration:
701cs with internal 14.4 and a Megahertz Combo Card 14.4 / 10Mbs 10base-T (Got a good deal on it, so I got the combo)
With it I have it set up for:
DHCP at work through the combo card.
Dial-up PPP through the 701cs internal 14.4 modem. to work.
Same except to an external provider.
This works flawlessly. Before I launch any tcp-ip apps. I either plug into the work network or I dial into whatever provider I feel like going through. Then all of them work fine. This may sound weird but just set them up. Be sure to have the gateway settings correct. Also, for the tcpip->dial up I have the ip preset to 192.0.0.1 and the same for the dial-up connection. With the same gateways. I don't know if this helped but I figured I'd pass it on.
Also....
If you are a Thinkpad owner in the NoVa area who is looking to sell your Thinkpad, my sister needs one and I said I'd be on the lookout for one for her. She needs probably one of the used 486-100's lying around out there.
