I think this is pretty normal for the highend models across different 
vendors and they're all guilty of it. There was an article in Information 
Week published about 3 months ago about this topic.

This is the reason why I ended up with this "lemon" 760ELD since I 
couldn't get a Toshiba Tecra within the time and budget constrain that I 
had.
