Re: DirectX Drivers for 365X 10.4 TFT
Well, all I can say is that I have had a much different experience,
thankfully, thus far. My model is the 760EL (9547-U4H) and have installed
DirectX 2 and Return of Arcade and Ultimate Doom for Windows 95 and
everything has worked just fine for me. My chipset is the Cyber 9320 PCI;
I don't know what chipset the 365XD uses. However, our audio devices are
the same (ESS AudioDrive 1688) so audio shouldn't be a problem. You might
try installing the latest drivers from ESS but my prior set also worked
fine. You know, Windows 95 has a very nasty habit of trying to install the
ESS AudioDrive with the old Essfm.drv file and OPL2/OPL3 synthesis but this
shouldn't prevent the device from responding under DirectX. I happen to
keep the driver file (ESS .zip archive) on my HDD because of how often
Windows will overwrite things. To reinstall you need to REMOVE the
AudioDrive within Device Manager then, WITHOUT REBOOTING, go to Add/Remove
New Hardware and install the 1688 AudioDrive (NOT the plug and play
variety).
