It is quite true that the XJack thingy, when in use, usually
interferes with accessing whatever *other* PCMCIA card you have in your
machine. If this is an issue for you and you still want the Megahertz, they
*do* have a "corded" version without the XJack.
For me though, I've come to the conclusion that I never use the
modem at the same time I am using my Adaptec SlimSCSI card or my Ethernet
card--I may use *those* two at the same time, but never the modem at the
same time as either of them. The machine is very "independent" when I use
the modem and I have no need for the modem on the occasions I use the
Ethernet (to hook up to my desktop) or SCSI (pretty much just to install
software via CD-ROM--though when other uses for the SCSI are in play, I
really don't need to use the modem at the same time).
As an aside, Megahertz also makes a combo card model (Ethernet and
XJack), but of course that would still interefere with your SCSI connector.
