Adam,
I've owned an XJ2288 unit in the past, and was quite satisfied with its
performance ans support. Megahertz regularly releases firmware files which
improve connecvtivity and compatability as technology changes. Firmware is
user installable via provided FLASH software available via BBS an Internet.
I sold this unit when I upgraded to from a 360ce to a 755cx because I
thought the onboard MWave circuitry would suffice. On reflection I would
have kept the PC Card had I known that the MWave stuff couldn't handle v.34
and Sound simultaneously on any kind of usable basis.
Fortunatley I was lucky enough to be selected as a beta tester for the
Megahertz/USRobotics newest modem which is set for release soon. It is
available in both X-Jack and Dongle configurations and feature v.34+ (33.6
BPS), Voice Features, and Cellular Connectivity. Having used it
extensively in my 755cx and 760CD, I can say that this is yet another
quality Megahertz product and may well be worth waiting for.
Take care,
-Michael
