I've never tried to mount any device thru the parallel port, but
I doubt that it will work on a generic kernel. This may be wrong,
but I am fairly sure that the generic kernels that come with
Slackware X.Y have not been compiled with support for parallel
port devices (e.g. CDROM, ZIP, tape drive). Most people install
from IDE or SCSI CDROM/HD or floppy or over the network, so
the extra drivers would waste space.

I would recommend copying Slackware to your DOS partition and
installing from that.

Alternatively, get a hold of a kernel with proper parallel port
device drivers installed and boot off of that.

I don't know of any Linux end-user mailing lists, though I'm sure
there are some. There are Linux programmer related lists, such
as kernel development, etc, but you probably aren't interested in those.

Good luck,
Dave.
