problem is - if ibm sticks to past practises - they will announce a couple of
new machines at the end of october or early november, and these will offer
a few improvements, but the really appealing versions of these machines will
not be announced until february or march. or, they will announce up-grades
to be available soon. [are those up-grades to the 750 available yet? : - )]
what happened to the toshiba comparisions discussions? i found those very
worthwhile. i think most (sensible) people these days do not stick with one
brand as if it was a religion, and are open to considering alternatives. as
some subscribers to this list often have a much greater range of experience
with high performance notebooks, the comparision disucssions were most useful
to me.
aside from a few comaptability problems with my 755CE it has been a good
machine, and the few problems i have had with it have left me satisfied with
ibm service. i also liked the year's insurance that came with it - the
first year is the killer on insurance ... after that you can probably chop
the value in half and it will be adequately insured. i need a new machine,
but i am not so sure what they announce in oct/nov is going to convince me to
stick with ibm. we'll see ....
