Deciphering product announcements
Now after reading this I still can't tell whether you can use this CDROM
as a replacement for the one inside a 760CD or it has to be used inside
the dock. If its for the dock, why buy this when you can get a 10X CDROM
for probably a lower price than this one.

Overview
The 6X Internal IDE CD-ROM Drive is IBM's latest addition to the
Options by IBM family of CD-ROM products.
The 6X Internal IDE CD-ROM Drive, which features 6X performance
(900 KB/s data transfer rate) and MPC-2 compliance, is ideally suited
for running today's demanding multimedia applications. This drive
gives you access to the growing list of software and databases now
available on CDs. The drive connects directly to the internal IDE
controller in the system unit.
Key Prerequisites
The 6X Internal IDE CD-ROM Drive is supported on selected ThinkPad(R)
760, Dock I and II, SelectaDock, and non-IBM systems that adhere to
connection specifications described under Hardware Requirements.

Limitations
o The 4X CD-ROM Drive Adapter (39H3987) is required when installing
the 6X Internal IDE CD-ROM Drive in the ThinkPad Dock I or II.
o When using a ThinkPad 760 E/EL/ED/ELD with a ThinkPad Dock I or
II, the IDE Adapter Kit (46H5994) is required in addition to the
4X CD-ROM Drive Adapter (39H3987) with the 6X Internal IDE CD-ROM.
