ThinkPad 760ED & Win NT & Novell ???
I heard just recently about this mailing list and I'm glad to find a
source of TP information.
I have a ThinkPad 760ED and I'm currently using NT 3.51 on it. The
machine is connected to our company network and I'm using TCP/IP (NFS &
Reflection/X) to do most of my daily work.
Now I tried to install the Novell Client Services for NT (3.5b from
ftp.novell.com). The installation worked fine, after a rebott I could
access the Novell server's services (FileManager, connect
drives/PrintManager connect to network printers) without problems.
But then I tried to start Reflection/X except a period of intense
harddisk work nothing happened. I tried a shutdown but that lead to a
popup window telling me "C:\WINNT\System32\NetWare\NWMSGSVC.EXE didn't
respond to the end task request" (or similar).
After restart I tried to start other 16 bit applications (Videotext
decoder) but with the same result (nothing happened, shutdown caused
above message).
I assume that for some reasons this NWMSGSVC.EXE causes a "hang-up" in
the Windows 16 bit subsystem.
Any idea what the cause/reason could be?
I tried already the latest patch disk from novell for the client
services but without a noticable improvement.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
TIA
