Upgrades (720C in particular)

In the July issue of PC Magazine, in the Second Looks Column on page 69, there
is a description of upgrading one of the editor's TP720C. They do wonder about
the cost effectiveness of spending $1500 on upgrading a TP750C.

They replaced the hard drive, cpu and bios with parts from Corporate Upgrades,
(800) 240-6190. The hard drive upgrade was $898 for a 520 MB drive; the article
infers that this included the bios and 32 bit drivers.

The CPU upgrade was a 75MHz Blue Lightning for $498.

They mention the Sigma Data hard drives, (800) 446-4525, as having higher
capacity, and not needing the bios upgrade, but lacking 32 bit drivers.

They also installed CardWizard Pro from SystemSoft, (800) 449-7973, for $69.95
to update the pc card capability and installed 32 bit Windows 95 graphic
drivers.

I have no interest in any of the above mentioned firms. AU,YMMV.
