Frankly, that's why I paid in excess of $ 5,000 for my 755cx.
I wanted the three year service from IBM. I already found out that
the service from Toshiba on my last notebooks was seriously lacking
after 15 months.
And I've learned that I end up running 24*7 much of the time.
(Alot of late night, unattended modem-based data transfer.)
Even before my 755CX, a toshiba 486/25 ran extremely hot without crumping
in near 24x7 duty. It's failure mode was the TFT screen which
I dont think was a thermal issue. Replacing the screen but not the
mother board restored it to gainful employment, when a cheap used
replacement screen appeared on the market. It is nearly 5 years old,
still runs very hot, but still runs without mother/processor failure.
I realize this is anecdotal, but the plural of that is 'Data'.
