Frankly, that's why I paid in excess of $ 5,000 for my 755cx.  

I wanted the three year service from IBM.  I already found out that 
the service from Toshiba on my last notebooks was seriously lacking 
after 15 months.

And I've learned that I end up running 24*7 much of the time.
(Alot of late night, unattended modem-based data transfer.)
Even before my 755CX, a toshiba 486/25 ran extremely hot without crumping
in near 24x7 duty.  It's failure mode was the TFT screen which 
I dont think was a thermal issue.  Replacing the screen but not the
mother board restored it to gainful employment, when a cheap used
replacement screen appeared on the market.  It is nearly 5 years old,
still runs very hot, but still runs without mother/processor failure.

I realize this is anecdotal, but the plural of that is 'Data'.
