Forgive me if I'm wrong, but: If you set the processor speed to the minimum
won't see a decrease in performance? In other, perhaps clearer, words, is this 
speed setting subjective?

Frankly, I'm not sure what the fuss is about, the thing is warranteed for 3
years. IBM should be savvy enough to make a machine that will last that long.
And face it- you'll probably have a new machine by then anyway ;)
