701CS Battery life?

After following discussion on this list for a month now, I'm just wondering
if there is TP701C/CS users who have the NiMh battery. How long can you work
with it? I've used to 3+ hours with my current laptop without any power
management, so the less than 2 hours promised for 701's NiCd battery doesn't
sound very good.

One more question. Can you adjust the speed of the procesor as a part of the
power management system? And does it work properly, since the APM seems to
be more or less unstabile in most laptops. Screen won't blank every time it
should, computer doesn't hibernate/go to standby always, HD doesn't spin
down etc. problems.

If this sounds totally irrelevant for this list, reply me directly. Thanks
in advance for information, because the user mailing lists seem to be the
best way for decent information. PC magazines and such seem to be afraid to
say anything bad about the computers they test, because they would stop
getting free stuff from the companies...

BTW, I didn't say it was a suprise that TP701 would be soon a discontinued
model. I just remember what happened to Compaq Contura Aero prices last
December, when it was announced OFFICIALLY as a discontinued model. J&R
Computer World in NY bought the entire stock of Aero's from Compaq and
started to sell it about 30% cheaper than any other store/mail order company
around. The prices dropped from $1399 to $999 everywhere. Just wondering if
Big Blue is doing the same thing with TP701's ;-).
