I bought a 755CE just about a year ago, just after the big power supply
recall.  It was obvious someone had opened the box and replaced whatever
was there with something that looks exactly like what you describe above
except it's a P/N 85G6670 or FRU P/N 85G4952.  This one runs on 100 to
240 volt AC mains and all you need for another country is the proper
mains cable.  I haven't had any trouble using the fuel gauge power cycle
from Win 3.1.  It does get a bit hot but the small size more than makes
up for that.  I imagine the reason IBM supplies it with world's shortest
mains cable is to make sure it stays out where air can circulate...
