I think the confusion is inevitable, mega SHOULD mean a million. It was
inevitably confusing to misuse these very standard prefixes in the computer
contexts for no good reason.

In fact IBM ads are always very clear that they are talking abvout millions
of bytes, and frankly I think that is actually a clearer unit for most people
than the rather odd 2**20!
