Thank you to all who responded. The "sad" story is that for those of us
who buy portables with our own money (vs. company money, that is), it's
almost worth investing in "add-ons" (more memory, bigger HD, etc), rather
than upgrading to a better machine... :)  Again, thanks for all the 
precious comments.
