native CD-ROM access with Win95 on 755CD

I have installed Win95 pre-release 2 on my TP755CD.  Everything is working
as far as I can tell, but I notice that my CD drive is running in "MS-DOS
compatibility mode".  From what I read in IBM's tpwin95 document, it sounds
like Win95 should automatically recognize the CD-ROM drive and use the
native support automatically.  However, if I don't load IBMTPCD.SYS (and
MSCDEX), Win95 doesn't see and can't find the drive (when asked to look for
new hardware).  I believe I've followed the directions in the tpwin95
document and I am running the v1.30 system.

Any suggestions?
