I've been running win95 on my 755cs since last october.. sucks less than
windows :)

Personally, I like it more than os/2, but that's not an assessment of
quality (I think os/2 is better) it's because I run windows apps.

On a cosmetic note, I really like the look and feel of win95.

The october build was a bit rough, but I just installed the preview build
last week and it went smoothly.

I used the dos/windows drivers for audio/video, the pcmcia worked with win95
drivers.

Speed seems the same as win3.1 to me, stability is better than 3.1, which is
to say that I still crash, but not nearly as often. I should add that I run
a lot of stuff all at once, and did run into resource problems in 3.1 that
are gone in win95, so I'm happy with it if only for that.

The built-in SLIP/PPP is probably okay, but woefully underfeatured. There
is no way to automate login scripts, etc.

I use trumpet 2.0b, eudora 2.0.3, netscape 1.1b3, ewan 1.052 (telnet),
ws_ftp 94.10.18, and all are very stable. Eudora does crash on exit about
10% of the time, but it did that for me in win3.1 as well.

The only 16bit apps I've had a terrible time with are photoshop, and
caligari's truespace. Both run, but crash frequently in consistant places.
Other than that, stuff pretty much just runs.

I've played doom, descent, xcom, heretic, civilization, system shock, etc,
all with no problems.. or sound, of course.. :(
